Ancient Egyptian Dictionary – Bastet, Part 4: Home, Travel and Tales

This is the fourth part of the Bastet Dictionary. Part 3 ended with a practice passage; this part continues with more sentences from ancient Egyptian texts, in the same layout.
As before, open Source under a row to see where the sentence comes from. Where the original contained a name or a long phrase, it is replaced here by (...) and the original sentence is written in the source note.
The hieroglyphs are a teaching spelling built word by word from standard dictionary writings, not a copy of the ancient writing. The last section is again a practice passage from a literary text.

6. Practice: the Serpent Comforts the Sailor
In The Shipwrecked Sailor, a sailor wrecked on an island meets a serpent who speaks to him kindly and promises that he will return home. The lines below come from the serpent’s speeches, in the order in which they occur; the line numbers are in the source notes. Many of the words are ones you have met in this part and in Part 1, and the new ones are listed below, so try reading the Egyptian before looking at the English.
New words here: snD to fear · mH to fill, be full · nfrwt good things · qn to be brave, persevere · rwD to be firm · qni to embrace.
